Fictional Project — Non-profit Organization
Sunny Smiles
College Assignment
🦷 Overview
Sunny Smiles is a non-profit organization for cleft lip and/or cleft palate children that specializes in teens-adults that require more assistance to further develop their perfect smile. Case by case, Sunny Smiles will aid patients that are in financial bind when dental or health insurance does not want to cover it.
✏️ Branding
My main inspirations were the classic sun drawing that kids often draw and the Amazon logo. I loved the idea of a simple smile acting as the rest of the circle. For the sun's rays, I went through various iterations to find what fits best for the nonprofit. For the final logo, I thought that less is more would be better.
To appropriately match the conveyed message, I chose vibrant and relaxing colors. The yellow represents the sun to show how cheerful children are with their new smiles. The two blues compliment the warm yellow while delivering a message of calm.
💻 Social Media
For this project, I developed a visual identity through logo, color, and typography, and paired it with written messaging to create a consistent voice across platforms.
Through research, I found that many non-profits maintain an active social media presence, with Facebook and Instagram reaching the target audience of adults and parents. I created the slogan and body copy to best align with the project’s goals and overall message.
🏁 Outcome
The outcome of this fictional non-profit branding project is a clear and cohesive visual identity that reflects the non-profit’s mission and values. The final designs and word copy creates a sense of trust and accessibility, helping the organization connect with their target audience. Overall, the branding is consistent across print and digital platforms.
